Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 6^th August 2024.  As usual, we will start playing shorter games from 7.30pm as people arrive, until 8pm when we will start something a little longer.  The pub is doing food, and the table is booked from 6.30pm for those that would like to eat first.

This week, to mark the Olympics in Paris, we will be playing sport and Parisian-themed games. The “Feature Game” will be Montmartre which is a tactical game of numbers, where players take on the role of a painter and you’ll let their muse inspire them to become a famous artist!  Montmartre is a fairly quick game (rules, review, “How to Play” video), so there should be plenty of time to play other French and Parisian themed games, like Ticket to Ride: Paris, Next Station: Paris, or even Paris, or some sport themed games like Reiner Knizia’s Decathlon/Heptathlon, 6-Tage Rennen, Um Reifenbreite or Flamme Rouge.

And speaking of Olympics…

Jeff and his mate Joe had volunteered as “Games Makers” for the Olympics in Paris 2024 and had been assigned help out at the athletics. They’d had a great day, and although they’d been marshals, they’d been delighted to be able to watch Keely Hodgekinson win the 800 m for Team GB.

As the session ended, all the spectators left, but once they were gone, Joe felt quite suddenly overcome and commented, “I don’t know why it is so hot in the stadium after the events are over.”

Jeff replied, “That’s because all the fans have left…”
